24 Hour Theatre Deadline Approaching!

Hello,

The deadline for committing to 24 Hour Theatre is just a couple days away on Saturday July 14. If you can't let us know if you are committed to participating until a couple days later, that's fine, we'd still be glad to have you. But please, all directors, writers, and crew assistants, try to let us know by this Saturday! It would make our lives so much easier and less stressful to know whether we have these important positions filled!

Thank You

Registration and Admission

We have decided we will charge all participants $5 this year. Compared to registering for summer stock or some other professional theatre workshop this is cheap and we hope it does not discourage those interested. If you would like to bring juice or pop or snacks to share, it would still be appreciated. This charge will make it easier for the theatre to provide the main courses though. We will make basic 24 Hour Theatre T-shirts this year. The 24 Hour Theatre T-Shirts are included in the cost to participate.

We have decided to charge the audience $3 admissions plus a canned food item for a food drive this year. We will not ask the audience to donate more money in voting for their audience choice award. It is a small theatre, so in the past I had discouraged people from inviting a large number of family and friends. However, based on the past couple years we could use more audience members filling the seats for the performance. So invite people to come and support you!

What is 24 Hour Theatre?

Trumbull New Theatre is going to have it's most chaotic event ever!

TNT is presenting 24 Hour Theatre! What is 24 Hour Theatre? The 2007 experiment will be AUGUST 3 & 4 Each actor is expected to come prepared with a memorized one-minute monologue. The predetermined directors and writing staff will then handpick their teams. After all teams are made; the directors and actors will go home for the night. The four playwright teams will each write a 10-15 minute play to be staged, rehearsed, and performed in front of an audience the next day. The performance is Saturday at 8:00pm - Just 24 hours later! The actors and directors spend Saturday getting acquainted with the script as it unfolds on Saturday night in front of a live audience (in a completed state or not!) It puts experts and newbies on the same playing field, providing nearly instant gratification for all. It's like the creative process on speed! If you are interested in acting and able to commit all day Saturday, meet us at 7:30pm Friday, August 3 at Trumbull New Theatre in Niles. Anyone interested in watching the final projects are welcome to be a part of the audience Saturday, August 4 at 8:00pm. Tickets are available at first come first serve for all audience members (PRICES TBD)
For more information contact Ben Gavitt 330-288-4014 or email Ben Gavitt at: jaben1979@hotmail.com If you would like to write or direct please call or email Ben Gavitt by July 14 to be scheduled on a team. Actors are encouraged to preregister by also contacting Ben Gavitt.

WRITER'S GUIDELINES

1.Please do not come with a script already. The whole challenge to this "experiment" is that the entire theatre process is reduced to 24 hours. This includes the writing. You will be teamed up with 2-3 other writers. You will work together with your team to complete a 10-15 minute play.
2. Please limit pofanity to mild expletives if you must. Because the audience is open to people of all ages, please keep your play free from excessive sexual inuendos and profanity.
3. Please refrain from long monologues. Remember your actors have to be able to memorize the script in LESS than 24 hours.
4. Try to keep technical requirements to a minimum, but don't be afraid to use it. (Lights up/down, music, sound fx, etc.)
5. Length of play should be 10-15 minutes long. (One page double spaced is usually one minute)
