What is 24 Hour Theatre?

Trumbull New Theatre is going to have it's most chaotic event ever!
TNT is presenting the 6th annual 24 Hour Theatre! What is 24 Hour Theatre? The 2010 experiment will be AUGUST 6 & 7.

Each actor is expected to come prepared with a memorized one-minute monologue. The predetermined directors and writing staff will then handpick their teams. After all teams are made; the directors and actors will go home for the night. The five playwright teams will each write a 10-15 minute play to be staged, rehearsed, and performed in front of an audience the next day. The performance is Saturday at 8:00pm - Just 24 hours later! The actors and directors spend Saturday getting acquainted with the script as it unfolds on Saturday night in front of a live audience (in a completed state or not!) It puts experts and newbies on the same playing field, providing nearly instant gratification for all. It's like the creative process on speed!

If you are interested in acting and able to commit all day Saturday, meet us at 7:30pm Friday, August 6 at Trumbull New Theatre in Niles. Anyone interested in watching the final projects are welcome to be a part of the audience Saturday, August 7 at 8:00pm. Tickets are available at first come first serve for all audience members $3 for Tickets.

For more information contact Ben Gavitt 330-288-4014 or email Ben Gavitt at: twentyfourhourtheatre@hotmail.com If you would like to write or direct please call or email Ben Gavitt by July 9 to be scheduled on a team. Actors are encouraged to preregister by also contacting Ben Gavitt.

WRITER'S GUIDELINES

Writers please meet at the theatre at 7:00pm. (Please only those writers who have contacted us previous to the event)

1.Please do not come with a script already. The whole challenge to this "experiment" is that the entire theatre process is reduced to 24 hours. This includes the writing. You will be teamed up with 2-3 other writers. You will work together with your team to complete a 10-15 minute play.

2. Please limit pofanity to mild expletives if you must. Because the audience is open to people of all ages, please keep your play free from excessive sexual inuendos and profanity.

3. Please refrain from long monologues. Remember your actors have to be able to memorize the script in LESS than 24 hours.

4. Try to keep technical requirements to a minimum, but don't be afraid to use it. (Lights up/down, music, sound fx, etc.)

5. Length of play should be 10-15 minutes long. (One page double spaced is usually one minute)
